Wylye, Wiltshire
Wylye village is located in the Wylye Valley, and has the Wylye River running through it. The back road, which passes through several pretty villages, from Sutton Veny to Wilton runs parallel to the much faster A36, so is quiet, popular mainly with cyclists and myself on my mobility scooter.
Wylye village itself has a pub, the Bell Inn, and Village Stores and Post Office, as well as the Church of St Mary. We'll known residents included the watercolour artist WH Allen, long deceased, and currently the author Michael Dobbs, most famous for his House of Cards trilogy, turned into a popular TV series.
From Sutton Veny the Wylye Valley runs through the villages of Corton, Boyton, Sherrington, Stockton, Bampton, Wylye, Hanging Langford (where you will find Langford Lakes Nature Reserve), Little Langford, Great Wishford, and Wilton.
