Broad Chalke, Wiltshire

Broad Chalke in South Wiltshire, is a picturesque village about 9 miles south west of Salisbury. Water cress has been grown in Broad Chalke by the same family since 1880, the natural spring water that filters down from the surrounding hills makes for ideal growing conditions, and those same hills make for some exhilarating cycling, and satisfyingly exhausting walking, or so I'm told - I took my all-terrain mobility scooter! There's a handy village shop and cafe, called the Chalke Valley Stores, in the former United Reformed Church, and pub, the Queen's Head Inn, and the thatched cottages that abound in the village are a delight.
