About Tour Wiltshire

Picture
What began as a tidy online scrapbook of my photographs, taken since I moved to Wiltshire more than ten years ago and sorted during the pandemic, grew into me wanting to know more about the places that I'd already been to, and go to many of those that I hadn't.

I've never been much of a writer, I prefer a couple of paragraphs to even a couple of pages. Before I was ill-health retired I used to be lightly reprimanded for my short reports, and praised for actually getting the job done. However I do like to research and plan. So what may appear in a couple of paragraphs here has easily taken a morning to research, even before leaving home, I've gone out prepared to photograph what I need to, and written, I hope, succinctly, for your sake and mine, about what has interested me. I appreciate that I could have given much more information, but I don't apologise for not having done so. The snippets of information don't replace the books that might be found on each place, nor the websites that might go into depth on one subject, these Web pages are 'tasting plates' to kindle a thirst to really discover your choice places for yourself, or, like me, just happily flit from one place to another.

I also don't apologise for having lots of photos, causing, possibly slow downloads (I have fast Internet speeds, so I don't know), this website is primarily photographic, it's not intended to show you more than the words tell you. "A picture paints a thousand words..."
I am grateful for online access to several sources of information, no one paragraph has had one source. So thank you to:

Wiltshire Council's Community History
Wiltshire Council's Planning Department

Wiltshire Times
