Bowood House and Garden, Wiltshire

Old Rd, Derry Hill, Calne SN11 0LZ
I like Bowood House, or rather I like the exterior, as that's impressive, but there are very few rooms that are open to the public. The restaurant in the house, and the extensive grounds, are beautifult, as is the garden to the front, but I wish that the formal garden to the rear was usually open to the public when the rest is open. If I were a child I would love the superb playground - which is what many, or maybe most, people go there for. Underneath the lake is an old flooded village, which was a traditional thing for the landed gentry to do to improve their view, the occupants were moved to new accommodation first. People with disabilities and their carers get half price admission to Bowood House and Garden. Disabled Access
